The most ecological wood burning heater
Our ancestors learned that the rocks around the fire would remain hot long after the flames had died…
A wood-fired masonry heater acts like the sun in the heart of your home. Welcome it into your home and reap its many benefits. Masonry heaters store the heat produced by wood combustion and release it slowly through radiation over a number of hours.

A Temp-Cast masonry heater is a Russian design in which the gases generated by the wood burned in the main hearth are burned in the secondary combustion chamber. The smoke produced descends each side of the unit and then joins at the junction of the chimney before it is released into the air.
Temp-Cast heaters have been in production for over 20 years at the Port-Colborne warehouse in Ontario and have been available in Québec since the 90’s thanks to Normand Désourdy. Today they can be found in hundreds of homes in the province of Québec.
Efficient energy… Quickly stores heat produced by intense fire and releases it slowly over 12 to 24 hours. Each fire can produce 250 000 BTU.
Combustion efficiency… Burns wood and combustion gases, therefore recycling over 90% of the energy produced for heating.
Saving on wood… One fire a day, 22 kg (50lb) of dried wood can suffice to heat between 140 to 185 m (1 500 to 2 000 sq. ft.). All types of wood will do. As little as 6 to 10 cords of wood is enough for the entire year.
Respecting the environment… Releases 2 to 3 times less polluting particles per hour than an E.P.A. certified heating unit. In addition, it needs to run only for a few hours in order to keep the entire house warm all day long.
Safety…
The heater is always warm but will never become hot enough to cause burns. During combustion, the interior heat can reach 815˚C (1 500 ˚F) and exceeds the 513˚C (1 100˚F) needed to burn the gas responsible for the creation of creosote which is the cause of chimney fires.
Comfort and health… Once it is warmed, the masonry emits a soft and constant heat that is absorbed by the walls, ceiling, floor and furniture. Contrary to systems which pulse the air, this unit will not transport dust into the air nor burn on electric baseboards and hot metal stoves.
The heat generated does not produce any electromagnetic field and will not dry out the air in the room. This is ideal for people who are very sensitive to changing air conditions.
