Hire qualified and recognized inspectors only
Given that purchasing a new home is likely to be one of the largest investments you will ever make, you don’t want to be faced with nightmare stories like we often hear on the news.
YOUR MISSION is to hire a qualified inspector who is trained to provide you with the information describing all observations and deficiencies noted during the inspection, with integrity. This information should be understandable and most of all, up to recognized standards. The inspection should cover all of the home’s major systems including; electrical, plumbing, heating, roofing, foundation, interior and exterior. This information should be personalized and not generated by an automated program with generic text and checkboxes.
YOU MUST read this information carefully prior to making any commitment. Some other experts may be required to assist you in areas not covered by the home inspector that you hired. Here, we refer to auxiliary heating units. Your specialty retailers are certified and qualified for all your inspection needs with regards to fireplaces, stoves and chimneys. They can provide you with the information that will save you money and potential headaches.
Protect yourself and contact the Association of Home & Property Inspectors (CAHPI) who as established the most widely recognized standard of quality for home inspections nationwide. Click on this link to access the Standard of Practice or to find a CAHPI inspector near you.
Have a warm heating season !
